Tecmo Bo Jackson Player Of The Game – Week 9

Tecmo Bo Jackson Player of the Game

In the early 90’s, there was a game that captured the hearts and minds of football fans…Tecmo Super Bowl.  Real players, stats, and simple controls.  It was mind-blowing.  In the game, there was one player who ruled them all, and that player was Bo Jackson (sorry QB Eagles).  He was unstoppable, zig-zagging his way up and down the field to another touchdown with utter ease.  So in honor of the immortal Tecmo Bo Jackson, Green + Gold Life will be honoring a player every week who dominated the game in the same way Tecmo Bo did with the Tecmo Bo Jackson Player of the Game award.

And the Tecmo Bo Jackson Player of the Game award for Week 9 goes to…

James Starks Tecmo

This was a tough call.  Part of me wanted not to give the Tecmo Bo Jackson award to anyone for the second consecutive week.  Once again, the team looked sluggish, flat, and completely out of sync.  Where was the fight and the heart on Sunday afternoon after being completely embarrassed and dismantled on national television the week before?  It wasn’t there and to see that was shocking and concerning.

But after taking some time to think about it, there was a player that showed the drive, the tenacity, the skill that was deserving of the Tecmo Bo Jackson award, and that was James Starks, becoming the first player to win two Tecmo Bo’s.  The backup running back, and perhaps soon to be starting running back, had 122 yards and a touchdown on 16 touches.  That’s pretty impressive and I’m sure he will be a hot fantasy pickup this week.  We’ve seen this kinda performance out of him in the past vintage the 2010 playoffs, and the way Lacy has been running, the Packers are going to need more of that from Starks this season.
